Shabad Interpretation in English: Day and night, I sing praises of the Almighty Lord. The True Guru has revealed to me the Name of the Lord. Without the Lord, I cannot live, for a moment, even for an instant. My ears hear the Lord’s Kirtan, and I contemplate on Him. Without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant. Just as the swan cannot live without the lake, how can the Lord’s slave live without serving Him? Some enshrine love for duality in their hearts, and some pledge love for worldly attachments and ego. The Lord’s servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa. Nanak contemplates on the Lord Almighty.

Shabad Interpretation in Punjabi: ਮੈਂ  ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਵਾਹੇਗੁਰੁ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹਾਂ. ਮੇਰੇ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਨੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਾਰੇ ਦਸ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਪਾਲ ਵੀ ਰਹਣਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਹੈ. ਮੇਰੇ ਕਨ ਹਰਿ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੇਏ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਪਾਲ ਵੀ ਰਹਣਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਹੈ. ਜਿਦਾਂ ਹੰਸ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਬਿਨ ਨਹੀ ਰਹ ਸਕਦਾ, ਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਨ ਕਿਵੇ ਰਹ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ. ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਮਨ  ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੂੰ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਸਰੇਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਪਯਾਰ ਰਖ ਲੇੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕ ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹੰਦੇ ਹਨ. ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਯਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ. ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਹੈ.

Shabad Interpretation in Hindi: मैं दिन रात परमात्मा की उसतति मे मगन हूँ। मेरे सच्चे गुरु ने मुझे प्रभु के बारे बता दिआ है और अब मुझ से प्रभु बिन एक पल भी रहना मुश्किल है। मेरे कान प्रभु उसतति का ही सिमरन करते हैं और अब मुझसे प्रभु बिन रहना बहुत मुश्किल है। जैसे हंस सरोवर बिन नहीं रह सकता प्रभु का सेवक प्रभु बिन कैसे रह सकता है। कई मनुष्य प्रभु के बिना औरों  प्रति प्रेम धारण कर लेते हैं और कई सांसारिक मोह और अहंकार मे ही मस्त रहते हैं।  प्रभु के बंदे परमात्मा के प्यार मे ही सभी सुखों की प्राप्ति करते हैं।  नानक तो हरी सिमरन मे ही मस्त है।
